    Description

Walker Audio Proscenium Turntable. Condition is "Used" but "Excellent.".
There are many superlatives that have been written about this turntable and they are all true. It is a remarkable instrument.
First, some disclaimers. The current model is the Black Diamond Mk VI and this is NOT that version. Having said that, here are some differences: the most obvious is that the new version uses a completely different air supply. It can be located quite a distance away to eliminate any nose from it in the listening area. There are other improvements to be sure, but from an appearance and feature aspect, they are far less noticeable when you look at the units side by side (emblem is different...). But here is the thing: I spoke with Lloyd Walker a short time ago, and he told me the turntable I am offering can be upgraded to the VI for between ,000-,000.
So, consider that for ,000 or less you can have a 0,000 turntable.
This turntable has both air bearings to suspend the turntable and in the linear tracking tone arm. In addiition the pods (3) that support the turntable have air bladders that help isolate the table from vibration and acoustic feedback. The entire unit is massively heavy. The platter itself must weigh about 80 lbs and the base even more than that. The turntable is moved by a smaller, outboard motor with two pully settings (33 or 78) and a slender silk ribbon that loops around them and the turntable. The motor is only about 2 oz of torque so it's a testament to the air bearings that it moves at all, ad so reliably.
The air supply comes from a wood-encased, black finished box housing a compressor and other components. It connects to the turntable via air tubing much like you would use for an aquarium air supply. There are also two baffle systems that serve to dampen out the "puffs" coming from the compressor output. The compressor is amazingly quiet. I had it located maybe 15' from the turntable and could not hear it at all from any listening position. It can be farther away than that.
I am including all original components like the owner's manual, record clamp (heavy brass), motor, belt, compressor, hoses, baffles, tone arm, newer cartridge and stylus. I also am including a kit of alignment items I purchased as well.
This is going to require a substantial crate for shipping and will need to be shipped freight, so it is a bit pricey and dependent on your location of course. I will cover some of the shipping costs and will arrive in separate packaging..
About images. I don't have this fully set up after our downsizing move. The turntable shows almost no signs of wear or use, in nearly new condition (the baffles are a bit more worn looking but they would be out of sight anyway). The black lacquer finish and brass parts are all in brilliant shape.  The two images are from stock photos, and my turntable does not have a wooden base nor the motor controller shown on the air compressor.  Otherwise, they are quite accurate images.
Yes, that is why I am selling. We bought a new smaller home and simply don't have an adequate listening space any longer. It's like losing one of my kids to sell this, but like my kids growing up and moving out, it's time for it to go.
If you might consider an upgrade as well, I can ship them directly to Walker Audio in PA for the upgrade to save you the costs of re-shipping to them.
