    ABOUT THIS COVER
    The feature stamp
on this hand drawn, hand painted
    . . .
    and strictly One-of-a-Kind
    . . .
FDC by Judith Fogt is the PO's 1983
300 Year Anniversary of the First German Immigration to America
    stamp, Scott # 2040.
About the inspiration for this the feature stamp
: as the PO’s souvenir sheet for this particular stamp explains it, the German ship known as

    . . .
    the Concord
    brought 13 families from
    (
    the German city of
    )
Krefeld to the New World in search of religious freedom. The families, led by Franz Louis Pastorius, had responded to an invitation from William Penn
    (
    founder of the Pennsylvania colony
    )
to settle in Pennsylvania. On October 16, 1683, they founded
    Germantown
, the first German settlement in America. Today, Germantown is part of the city of Philadelphia.

    About the feature stamp, itself
: this sea-faring stamp was designed by Arlington, Virginia stamp artist, Richard Schlecht, who depicts a compelling view of the German ship,
    Concord
, making its epic voyage across the Atlantic.
    The actual combo stamps, themselves

About the hand drawn and hand  painted cachet
: on this beautifully colored, hand painted cachet, Mrs. Fogt gives a prominent view of Pastorius, his finger pointed in the direction of his nearby, new Promise Land.
    About the very theme-related cancellation
: and when it comes to relevant cancellation sites, it just doesn't get any better than this
    . . .
    Germantown, Pennsylvania
    . . . .
and 2 individually hand stamped Bulls-Eye cancels, to boot.
    About the Scarcity Factor
: as noted above, this is a strictly One-of-a-Kind piece.
    All in all
    , definitely, a thumbs-up, stamp-rich piece of work.
    INTERESTING TIDBIT
: in his informative -page article in the  December 2007 issue of
    First Days
, writer Steve Ripley reveals that Judy Fogt's covers, from her very first up to her 1989 creations are all one-of-a-kind pieces. Judy did continue her cachetmaking in 1990 and beyond in a hand-drawn, hand painted line that she called
    Limited Editions
where multiple quantities of each cover were made. But her all of
    her truly unique, one-of-a-kind covers
, such as the one offered here, are
    pre
    -1990 creations.
